What is real on Earth, is not in the spiritual realm, therefore this subject is better when addressed in a less real, by earthly standards, style.
The Man in the Mists is about the nature of faith. The figure is engulfed in swirling mists, the cares of the world. The mists encompass him, nearly overwhelming him, but he reaches up toward the Light and Truth and does not lose sight of them.
New Life was inspired by a large, cracking terra cotta face in the Boboli Gardens of Florence and by Ezekiel chapter 36 in the Bible. This classical face of clay/soil/Man is cracking apart, not because of deterioration, but because new life is breaking forth from within. Streams of light issue from the cracks.
The Dove was commissioned by a church in Arizona, after they saw a similar one of mine in Jerusalem. Emblematic of the Holy Spirit, it is rendered in transparent and overlapping layers of color. Along the bottom of the composition are the stone walls of Jerusalem's Old City.
